PVC Fencing – Frequently Asked Questions

As suppliers of quality PVC fencing we are often asked questions regarding our PVC Fence products and Flexible Stud Rail so below is a quick outline of the most frequently asked questions along with our answers. If you have any further questions regarding, design, install, price, manufacturing details please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How Strong is PVC Fencing?

It is five times stronger and has four times the flexibility of wooden fencing. It flexes under load making it strong enough to safely hold cattle and horses. Our flexible stud rail has 3 strands of high tension galvanized steel running through which maximizes its flexibility and strength.

Is it easy to install and can I install it myself?

All of our PVC fencing is easy to install and you can install it yourself without any fencing experience. Some people hire a professional to cement the posts in for the post and rail. The posts are set in concrete in the ground from 24 to 36 inches except for flexible stud rail which just requires normal wooden posts. A number of our customers have installed the fence themselves or like in the case of a number of cricket clubs they have used club volunteers to install it. We can provide you with full install instructions and offer any help with install queries needed over the phone.  We also have a nationwide fencing contractor database so we can put you in touch with recommended fencing contractors in your area.

Can I install PVC fence if the ground is not flat?

Yes you can by including a step in the fence, we can advise you on all install problems. You can also install if the area is round instead of straight and we also have a number of corner options. We also have options if you cannot concrete into the ground i.e. use of metal base plates. We can also modify and manufacture to specific size requirements, which we have done for a number of cricket grounds.

How do I calculate the parts needed for flexible stud rail?

We can do all that for you all you need to do is provide us is the desired fence layout and we can work out which parts you require.

Does the PVC fence come in different colour options?

We currently supply our PVC fencing in white only but other colours are available to order. The flexible stud rail we supply is brown but again other colours are available to order

How does the price compare to wood?

It is stronger, longer life, safer, looks better and costs much less over time. The PVC post and rail is initially more expensive but over time it works out much more cost effective. Flexible Stud rail is about the same price as wood depending on wood prices, type of wood etc

Do I need to paint it?

NO the colour of the vinyl goes all the way through the fence so it can’t be scratched or chipped, this saves time and the costs associated with repainting.

Will it discolour?

Ultra violet inhibitors protect the PVC from the harmful effects of the suns UV rays so it will not discolour.

Will PVC fence break?

Like everything the PVC fence is not indestructible and can break on direct impact with heavy loads ( i.e. heavy machinery) but under normal use and installed correctly the fence will not break. Rails and pickets can easily be replaced if on the rare occasation they do break. Flexible stud rail is designed to flex on impact and will only need retensioning.

Will PVC fence withstand wind?

Our fences are designed to withstand normal wind loads

Does PVC fencing require maintenance?

Under normal circumstances a yearly wash will keep it looking like new. As expected the fence will become dirty when exposed to the elements and usually a hose down will keep it clean, for tougher dirt a mild detergent will do the job.
